Pikachu leads, but does not dominate.

The British chain of stores The Toy Zone found out which Pokemon are most loved in different countries. As a result, this data resulted in an unusual geographical map.

The popularity of iconic creatures from Japanese anime was determined by analyzing Google search queries in each region. The researchers did not miss a single one of them - they checked the data on all 1,016 characters.

Pikachu predictably grabbed a considerable part of the world pie, but there were still some surprises.

Key findings are:

  • the map shows the most popular Pokemon in 115 countries (there was not enough data for the rest);
  • a total of 52 species were included on the map;
  • Pikachu turned out to be a favorite in 29 countries, this is a record;
  • in Russia, baby Zubat has become the most popular;
  • The United States became the only country where the leader was the Pokémon from the fourth generation, Mime Jr., who looks like a clown;
  • Vaporeon is the favorite in South America. He is leading in three countries on this continent;
  • in Europe - Pikachu (in six countries);
  • in the Middle East they really love the fiery Charizard, but he is still inferior to Pikachu (five countries versus eight);
  • in Japan, the homeland of Pokemon, Drizzile is preferred.

You can view all the details on the map below or as a list on The Toy Zone website.
