Seven-time Formula 1 champion, 45-year-old driver Michael Schumacher, has been discharged home from the hospital where he spent several months after an accident in the mountains.

Recently, Michael Schumacher was discharged from a Swiss clinic. The driver will continue his rehabilitation at home, the German newspaper Bild reports, citing Schumacher's manager Sabine Kem.

“Progress has been made in recent weeks and months. However, there is still a long and difficult road ahead. We are grateful to the staff of the Lausanne hospital for their competent work. We ask that you respect the privacy of Michael’s family in the future and avoid speculation about his health,” Kem said.

Let us recall that on December 29, 2013, Michael Schumacher fell and received a severe traumatic brain injury while skiing in the French Alps and was hospitalized in a hospital in Grenoble. The ex-racer underwent two operations and was put into a coma to prevent unnecessary stress on the brain. In June it became known that Schumacher had emerged from a coma and was continuing treatment in a rehabilitation center.
